Description
It's a new drake species D:
White-Crested Drake
Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Chordata
Subphylum: Vertebrata
Class: Sauropsida (Reptilia)
Order: Dragonigena ('dragon-born' )
Superfamily: Drakaepoda
Family: Draka
Genus: Noctiviator
Species: Noctiviator niveacra (white-tipped night traveler)
Common name: White-crested Drake, Owl drake
White-crested drakes are a relatively small, nocturnal species of drake found commonly in Obscura. They are about the size of a large bull and live in moderate climates, usually within forested areas where there is plenty of cover and shelter. They live in pairs, which mate for life. They are capable fliers, and can fly through dense treeline with ease.
Being nocturnal, they rarely stir much before sundown. Their exceptional eye-sight and hearing makes them wonderful nocturnal hunters, who prey on birds, mammals and rarely, people, swooping down from the night sky to ambush prey.
They nest in on large trees or ridge-sides, often migrating to more promising nesting grounds. They are very tolerant of others of their species and sometimes many white-crested drakes will band together to steal prey from another predator. Cases of large flocks of white-crested drakes attacking species like Black Bladewings in the dead of night to steal prey are not unheard of.
They breathe a weak fire, and are not very confrontational against attackers, usually fleeing in a hurry. Pairs are stable and raise their young together for several years until the young grow independent.
Males and females have little dimorphism; females are slightly larger than males. Juveniles and hatchlings are a darker, mottled brown.
